Charlie Levine, brings a unique blend of expertise in environmentalism, sustainability, and mobility services to her role at Electreon. Formerly with Moovit, a public transit app acquired by Intel, Charlie spearheaded initiatives like building a volunteer mapping community. Her background in mobility and her passion for sustainability led her to Electreon, where she saw an opportunity to make an impact.
“I connected with what Electreon was doing immediately,” she shares. “Their vision to bring charging to vehicles instead of vehicles to charging was a game-changer. The technology is so versatile—it can be under roads, in taxi queues, or even in your driveway. It’s about enabling seamless, autonomous charging wherever it’s needed.”
Charlie’s role extends beyond strategy; she has been instrumental in reshaping Electreon’s brand and messaging. Her efforts underscore the company’s mission to disrupt traditional EV charging paradigms, making the technology more efficient and accessible.
Electreon’s co-founder and CEO, Oren Ezer, is no stranger to innovation. With a background in advanced electronics and autonomous systems, Oren’s career began in the aerospace industry, where he worked on cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous vehicles. His vision for Electreon stemmed from a desire to reduce carbon emissions and rethink EV charging.
“When we started Electreon, people laughed at the idea of wireless charging,” Oren recounts. “Back then, even electric vehicles themselves weren’t widely accepted. It was about educating the market—first on EVs and then on wireless technology. We’ve come a long way.”
While Oren has played a pivotal role in shaping Electreon’s journey, he is quick to point out that it’s not just about him. “It’s a team effort,” he says. “Building something this ambitious requires a shared vision and deep commitment from everyone involved.”
When speaking to Oren, one really gets the impression that this is a deeply personal and transformative journey for him, and something that he is genuinely passionate about. “Our vision is not only wireless; it’s about changing the way you drive with your car. The system will keep the battery ready, eliminating range anxiety, making EVs accessible to everyone, and making a better future for us all.”
Electreon’s wireless charging technology is nothing short of revolutionary. It offers both dynamic charging, where vehicles charge while driving, and static charging, enabling vehicles to charge while parked. This flexibility makes it ideal for various use cases, from buses and trucks to private cars.
The benefits are immense:
"We designed a system where one management unit—which is one ‘Brain’’—can handle hundreds of coils, each acting as a charger. This allows us to efficiently support entire parking lots or long stretches of roads, all managed from a single point.
Oren compares this shift to other technological evolutions: “Think of wireless earphones. They changed the way we listen to music or phone calls. Wired earphones are becoming obsolete now. Charging stations are heading in the same direction. The future is wireless, and those who don’t adapt risk being left behind.”
Of course, such innovation hasn’t come without challenges. Early skepticism, concerns about health impacts, and the high cost of initial deployment required Electreon to persist with bold marketing and education efforts. From meeting policymakers like Angela Merkel to partnering with giants like Toyota, Electreon has proven that its technology is not only viable but essential.
“Disruptive technologies often come from startups,” Oren says. “Big organizations don’t usually put themselves ‘under the asphalt,’ literally, to build something so ambitious. It takes founders who are deeply committed.”
From Tel Aviv to Detroit, Electreon’s projects are already making an impact. Whether it’s electrifying bus routes or preparing for a 2025 launch of retrofitted home chargers, the company is paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient eMobility ecosystem.
With visionaries like Charlie Levine and Oren Ezer at the helm, Electreon is not just keeping up with the future—it’s leading it. As Oren aptly puts it, “Our vision is to eliminate the need to worry about your car’s battery. It’s not just about wireless charging—it’s about changing the way we think about mobility. This technology lets us bring charging to where it’s needed, making EV adoption easier and more efficient for everyone.”
